These pictures in such a boring color don't really do it justice. It really is great to drive (I've driven the hatch), and you can really notice the substantial weight saving. The interior is... innovative, but I liked it quite a lot when I drove it.

I'm very, very cuorious abouth this steering wheel placement. I haven't driven a 208 or new 308 yet, and I heard a lot of pro and contra opinions.

I haven't driven the 208, I have driven this 308 (hatch). It's primarily different at first. Take 10 minutes or so and you'll get accustomed to it. I liked it after that time, the steering is very direct. The added bonus is that you don't have to look as far down to view your speedometer and other dials.

Beat me to it ! Great looking car by the way, looks like a mini-508 SW (and praise doesn't get higher than that).

Interior looks less toyish than the 208's. Doesn't look very tidy though.

Doesn't it ? Looks quite uncluttered to me.

Just because it's uncluttered doesn't mean it's organized. Putting the dials, screen and what I think of as A/C commands in separate clusters doesn't contribute a lot to the visual presentation.

This should be Peugeots volume seller, and no real surprises here. Everything looks tidy and safe, maybe apart from bits of the interior. Not boring, but not very exciting either. Will this come in SW form with seven seats, it looks like there's space for that?

I like it, I think it's a good step in the right direction for Peugeot / PSA Group. The design seems to be more appealing to drivers outside the European continent...

Well, to be fair, the design of the old 308 didn't seem to appeal to anyone.

I guess it's one less headache for Carlos Tavares, the next CEO :)

That is pretty sharp...does it come in manual diesel? (Of course it does it's French)...o.k. does it come in manual, diesel and AWD?

Most will be sold as manual diesels, so yes. AWD, probably not. I doubt the target demographic would care much for AWD. I (Peugeot driver) wouldn't want it myself either, even if they offered it for free.
The only new AWD Peugeot is a diesel hybrid wagon (508 SW), with the diesel engine powering the front wheels and the electric motors powering the rear wheels.

So what would be the most powerful diesel motor available?

I don't know yet, the hatch is for sale already but the lineup isn't complete just yet. French wikipedia mentions a 180 hp 2.0L lump. That might not seem like much, but given the diesel torque (~380 Nm I'd guess/280 feet pound things) it's considerable for a non-performance compact diesel in Europe. I wouldn't rule out other engines though

That's not too shabby...of course I am asking all these stupid questions as if I could ever buy one. But as you are aware I have this sickness when it comes to wagons...I just can't help myself. :D

Well, if the US aligns its regulations with the rest of the world and/or lifts that silly 25 year import ban they could become available in the US.

A very nice wagon jaguar placed there.
And that 's coming from a person who'd prefer sedans/three-box-coupés most of the time.
